Calista Flockhart looks fabulous at 50 as she leaves the gym after workout

She’s a fitness fanatic, seen frequently hitting the gym and breaking a sweat.
And on Tuesday Calista Flockhart was seen leaving the gym in Santa Monica after finishing another of her regular workouts.
The 50-year-old actress looked toned yet healthy in her black gym gear and, these day, certainly seems to have found the right balance almost two decades on from her Ally McBeal days when her skinny frame caused constant speculation that she had an eating disorder.

During the 1998 Emmy Awards, just one year after her hit Fox show began, the actress appeared on the red carpet looking dangerously thin.

This spawned eating disorder rumors to which Flockhart denied – ‘I guess I don't know the exact definition of anorexia,’ she told People in 1998.
And it wasn’t just Flockhart; her co-star on Ally McBeal, Portia de Rossi, also drew attention in the late ‘90s for her skeletal appearance. Since then de Rossi has opened up about her eating disorders in a memoir titled Unbearable Lightness.
In 2006, The Mirror reported that Flockhart had also come clean about her struggles with weight:
'I started under-eating, over-exercising, pushing myself too hard and brutalising my immune system. I guess I just didn't find the time to eat. I am much more healthy these days.'
The mother-of-one – married to Harrison Ford in 2010 – wore her short blonde hair down and teamed her black workout gear with silver trainers and a pair of tortoise sunglasses for her Tuesday outing.

Still a bit of a fitness fanatic, Flockhart was spotted last week as she left a gym in Brentwood.
This time, however, Flockhart appeared to have had a significantly grueling workout.
Her grey t-shirt was blotched with sweat as she exited the gym, clutching her water bottle for some post-workout hydration.

Aside from mothering her high school son Liam and worrying about her husband after his recent plane crash, Calista has been busy with a new TV show.
She’s landed a starring role on Supergirl, coming this fall to CBS.
The show is a spin-off of Superman with Melissa Benoist as the heroine and Calista as Cat Grant, an adaptation of Clark Kent’s boss at the Daily Planet.

A recent trailer for the series shows Flockhart in a strong lead role, next to the show’s titular hero.
As Superman’s cousin, Supergirl has a day job as Kara Zor-El and works at Cat Grant’s media conglomerate CatCo.
The trailer shows Zor-El storming into Grant’s office, peeved about the media company’s referencing of the caped crusader as ‘girl’ instead of ‘woman.’
To which Flockhart’s Grant replies: ‘I’m a girl, and your boss, and powerful, and rich, and hot, and smart. So if you perceive Supergirl as anything less than excellent, isn’t the real problem you?’
